I am offering my home made incubator for sale. I have always made my own systems as I feel you can be sure that everything works as it should. The incubator will hold around 250 to 300 eggs depending on if you do duck or chicken eggs.

I bought a Coca Cola Fridge and had the motor removed. I then installed 3 bathroom light fittings that are capable of holding 100 watt light bulbs and a fan to circulate air. To anyone that knows how to incubate you must maintain a temperature 37.5 degrees C or 99.5F. To achive this I have installed a digital thermostat that will switch the light bulbs on when 37 degrees is received and off again at 38 degrees. The light bulbs generate the heat required. The humidity has to be around the 55% to 60%, this is achieved by adding water to the two tubs under the light bulbs. I add around 300cl of water to each bowl.
The eggs during the incubation process will need to be turned every 8 hours and I have installed tilting trays that you just push up or down as needed.

During hatching the humidity needs to be around 85%, this is easily achieved by adding more water and some sponges. Once the chick has hatched I have installed a hatching tray lower down so they can dry before being moved to the brooder.

The door is double glazed glass and the whole unit is insulated and vented.

I have been using this system for some time now and have had many great hatch rates. Last time was a few eeks ago and out of 200 eggs had well over 170 actually hatch. This unit is 24 inches wide and 64 inches high so you will need a van or estate car to take it home.

I have now reduced this item to £150 ono in the hope of a quick sale.
